Pantone has announced two different shades for the Pantone Color of the Year 2016
The colors are Rose Quartz and Serenity.
The photos released by Pantone in on their Instagram account feature a gradient of the two colors flowing into each other. Together the colors make a surreal, yet calming effect.
Every year Pantone releases a new Color of the Year by looking at trends in fashion, art, design, and culture. This is the first time that Pantone has released two shades for the Color of the Year.
“Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace,” said Letrice Eiseman, Executive Director at Pantone.
The two colors also represent the gender blur we’re experiencing “as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design.”
