When I was 18 years old, I went into Law because I thought that I could start working in a law department of a fashion company and then try to make the switch into fashion. But, when I was studying Law, I discovered the world of fashion blogging from two classmates that were looking at some in class. Before I finished my law degree I already started my first blog, Marta Barcelona Style.
My favorite thing about blogging is that I’m able to have freedom that doesn’t necessarily happen in other fashion jobs. I love blogging because I get to inspire people all over the world and help them dress. I’m also able to prepare all of my blog posts in advance for the week and travel. The posts are already scheduled and I can just focus on my trip. A bonus is that it’s not as crowded when I travel during the week and I get to relax and enjoy the beauty of the location.
I recently traveled to Málaga, a city in the south of Spain, which is beautiful, peaceful and has delicious traditional food. One week after that trip, I traveled to Cala d’Aiguablava, a beach in Costa Brava area (very close to Barcelona, Spain), which is a small paradise with very cold waters in lots of green colors.
Both trips were for relaxing and discovering places I’ve never gone to or that I haven’t visited since sooo many years ago. They’re short holidays for me but are very well needed.
The least thing I enjoy about blogging is the administrative time consuming tasks that need to be done.
I get inspiration for my outfits from traveling and in front of my closet trying on different garments and changing if I don’t like the mix. I do the same when I go shopping. I always browse for the trends of that season, pick the ones I like and I incorporate them in my style. My favorite stores are Zara, Stradivarius, BaubleBar (although they don’t ship to Spain), and Karen Walker.
I love sunnies and I love to incorporate them into my look. My three favorite sunnies right now are these ones from Karen Walker, these ones from RayBan and these ones from Dior.
When I want to dress up, sometimes I pick an intense red lipstick like this one and a lip liner like this one.
My favorite social media site to promote my blog is Instagram because there’s more interaction there with my readers and new readers discover my blog more there.
My advice for any aspiring fashion bloggers is to just try it, show your unique style and voice. And do it because you can help your readers and inspire them. That’s the best part of blogging. You’ll only exist once so go for it! You just need to be persistent, consistent and willing to work hard.
